CONFIRMED
Agility Robotics said on Oct 22, 2026 that it will standardize the onboard compute of its Digit 5 humanoid on NVIDIA IGX Thor modules, with NVIDIA as the exclusive compute provider for the general availability version. A day earlier, the company announced a 50,000-sq-ft Pittsburgh facility to anchor its software, AI and service work. Both moves come as Agility prepares for commercial scale and a Nasdaq listing through a SPAC merger.
What we know
Per Agility’s press release, distributed via GlobeNewswire, every general availability Digit 5 will run on NVIDIA IGX Thor. That is a supply-chain and engineering decision, not a new capability. Agility CTO Pras Velagapudi said the Thor modules give Digit 5 a common foundation as the company prepares for broad commercial deployment. NVIDIA’s Deepu Talla, VP of robotics and edge AI, said commercial scale requires AI computing and safety to be engineered together.
That safety framing is consistent with what Agility said when it unveiled Digit 5 on Sep 15, 2026. The robot was pitched as built for cooperatively safe work, and Agility called itself the first launch partner for NVIDIA’s Halos for Robotics, using IGX Thor and Halos Core infrastructure. Agility also cited more than 65,000 hours of real-world operation at that launch. The relationship is not new: NVIDIA invested in Agility in September 2025, according to the Churchill SEC investor deck.
The Pittsburgh facility, announced Oct 21 in a company press release distributed via GlobeNewswire, is 50,000 sq ft and adds about 35,000 sq ft to Agility’s existing footprint. Agility says it will serve as its software and AI center of excellence, a hub for customer deployment, support and service, and its East Coast service center alongside RoboFab in Salem, Oregon.
On timing, The Next Web, relaying company statements, reports that Agility expects early access to Digit 5 in the first half of 2027, with availability increasing over the following six to nine months. The same report cites more than $300M in multi-year Digit 5 orders, subject to contractual milestones. These are Agility’s own numbers, and we have not yet matched them against the primary release or the SEC filing.
What is rumored
Seoul Economic Daily, citing unnamed sources in the “financial investment industry,” reports that the merger will close on Nov 2, with Nasdaq trading starting in mid-November. It is a single outlet with unnamed attribution and is not on our approved list. Other outlets, also not on our approved list, describe Nov 2 as the shareholder vote date instead. Agility’s own filings say only Q4 2026. Treat any specific date as unconfirmed.
What we don’t know yet
The big one is revenue. The filings put last year’s cash burn at about $99.8M. How quickly revenue grows is the open question.
We also don’t know how much of the $300M order book survives its contractual milestones, or on what schedule it converts to recognized revenue. “Multi-year” and “subject to milestones” are doing a lot of work in that sentence.
And the listing itself is not guaranteed. The merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI, announced Jun 24, 2026 at about a $2.5B implied valuation with more than $620M in expected gross proceeds per the SEC filing, still needs shareholder approval and SEC review.
What it means
Digit already works in warehouses, so the interesting question is not whether a humanoid can move totes. It is whether Agility can deploy, support and service a fleet at a cost customers will keep paying. Locking every production unit to one compute platform makes sense for that. Fewer hardware variants mean simpler software validation, simpler spares and a cleaner safety case, which matters if Halos certification is part of the pitch.
The trade-off is dependence on a single supplier who is also an investor. That is common in early fleets, but worth watching.
Pittsburgh reads as an admission that scaling is a service problem as much as a robotics problem. An East Coast hub closer to customers is what you build when you expect robots in the field to need people.
None of this involves a new demo, so there is no autonomy claim to evaluate. The real test arrives with the filings: verified revenue, burn and order conversion will tell us more about Digit 5’s trajectory than any compute announcement.
