This page explains what information this site collects when you visit, why we collect it, and what control you have over it. RWT Robotics is a small, independent content site, so our data practices are limited, and we want to describe them plainly.
Who “we” are
“We,” “us,” and “this site” refer to RWT Robotics at robotwebtools.org. We publish news, analysis, and explainers about the robotics industry. We do not ask you to create an account, and you can read everything here without giving us your name or email address.
The short version
- We collect standard technical data that every web server records.
- This site and any analytics or advertising partners we use may set cookies.
- Embedded videos and social posts can let those platforms collect data about you.
- We do not sell your personal data.
- You can ask us what we hold about you and ask us to delete it.
Information collected automatically
Server logs
Like nearly every website, our hosting servers keep logs of incoming requests. A typical log entry includes:
- Your IP address
- The date and time of the request
- The page or file requested
- Your browser type and operating system (the “user agent”)
- The referring page, if your browser sends one
We use these logs to keep the site running, diagnose errors, spot abuse such as automated scraping or attacks, and understand overall traffic. We do not use server logs to build profiles of individual readers.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. This site may use them for a few purposes:
| Type | What it does | Set by |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Keeps basic site features working, such as remembering a display preference | This site |
| Analytics | Counts visits and shows which pages are read, so we know what is useful | An analytics partner, if we use one |
| Advertising | Shows ads and measures whether they were seen or clicked | An advertising partner, if we use one |
Analytics and advertising partners set and read their own cookies, and their handling of that data is governed by their own privacy policies. Where the law requires your consent before non-essential cookies are placed, we will ask for it, and you can change your choice at any time.
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop some features from working properly. Blocking analytics and advertising cookies will not affect your ability to read the site.
Information you choose to send us
If you contact us, we receive whatever you include in your message, such as your name, email address, and the content of your note. We use this only to reply and to keep a record of the conversation. We will not add you to a mailing list unless you ask to join one.
Tools that run in your browser
Some interactive tools on this site run entirely in your browser. Where a tool says this, the information you enter is processed on your own device and is not sent to our servers. Closing or refreshing the page clears it unless the tool states otherwise.
Embedded content from other sites
Articles may include embedded content such as videos, social media posts, or charts hosted elsewhere. Embedded content behaves the same way as it would if you visited the original site directly. Those platforms may:
- Collect data about you
- Set their own cookies
- Track your interaction with the embedded content, particularly if you are logged in to their service
We do not control what these third parties collect. Their privacy policies apply to any data they gather through embeds.
How we use information
We use the limited data we collect to:
- Operate, secure, and maintain this site
- Understand which content readers find useful
- Fix technical problems
- Respond to messages
- Display advertising, if we run ads, which helps keep the site independent
We do not sell personal data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only with service providers that help us run the site (such as hosting, analytics, or advertising partners), and only to the extent needed for them to provide that service. We may also disclose information if the law requires it or if it is necessary to protect the site or its readers from harm.
How long we keep data
We keep data only as long as we need it:
- Server logs are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting, then deleted or rotated out automatically.
- Analytics data, if collected, is retained according to the settings and policies of the analytics provider, and we use reports in aggregate form.
- Messages you send us are kept for as long as needed to handle your request and maintain a reasonable record, then deleted.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights over your personal data. Even where the law does not require it, we will honor reasonable requests. You can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal data we hold about you
- Correct data that is inaccurate
- Delete your data
- Stop using your data for a particular purpose
- Withdraw any consent you previously gave
To make a request, use the contact page on this site. We may need to ask for some details to confirm the request is genuinely from you. We will not charge you for a reasonable request, and we will respond as promptly as we can.
Because we collect very little that identifies you directly, there may be cases where we hold nothing linked to you. If so, we will tell you.
Security
We take sensible steps to protect the data we hold, including serving the site over an encrypted connection. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to keep what we collect to a minimum.
Children
This site is written for a general adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if our practices change, for example if we add a new analytics or advertising partner. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when the policy last changed. Significant changes will be made clear on this page.
Contact
Questions about this policy or how we handle your data can be sent through the contact page on this site.
